April 29 – June 18, 2017
Brandenburgisches Landesmuseum für moderne Kunst, BLmK, Cottbus

In 2017, the Brandenburg State Museum of Modern Art (BLmK) in Cottbus hosted a major retrospective of Berlin-based artist Sabine Herrmann. Titled Die unergründliche Tiefe (The Unfathomable Depth), the exhibition spanned over three decades of Herrmann’s creative output, from 1986 to 2017. It showcased her evolution from neo-expressive figuration to a distinctive painterly language characterized by layered pigment techniques on large-format paper. Herrmann’s works invite viewers into immersive visual worlds that blend memory, emotion, and abstraction .

A bilingual catalog accompanied the exhibition, featuring texts by Ulrike Kremeier, Vanessa Place, and Jörg Sperling. The publication includes 73 color illustrations across 88 pages and is available under ISBN 978-3-942798-68-6
